How do Evoca Media Services work?

What are APIs?

API stands for Application Programming Interface. It allows you to use Evoca's technology without installing it on your servers. Evoca Media Services capture and deliver voice as a "web service", that is, it is sent over the Internet, for you to use. How flexible is the platform?

Evoca Media Services are built to make it very easy for you to integrate voice into your web applications. We've structured it so that you can decide how the recordings are created and where you want to deliver them. Therefore, you are only limited by your imagination. We provide the technology - it's up to you how you want to use it.

How do people call my website?

They call the dedicated phone number assigned to you - landline, mobile or Skype™. These phone numbers will point straight to your application. We offer thousands of local (geographic) phone numbers in over 40 countries, as well as toll-free numbers in twelve countries, including the US and UK. Local and toll-free numbers for additional countries are added regularly, so just ask.

How many simultaneous calls can I take?

We can help you calculate and set up whatever capacity you need. Each toll-free number comes with a large number of "channels" - each channel can handle one call at a time. Each local (geographic) phone number comes with two channels, handling two simultaneous calls at once. You can add more channels by purchasing 10-channel trunk lines.

Does all the phone traffic go through your servers, or can we manage it?

At this time, all phone traffic must go through our phone numbers and lines. You may, however, use your own number and forward it to the one provided by us.

How long does it take to set up the phone and trunk lines?

When you purchase your phone lines, if the country, area code and city are in stock, you can get the phone line within one business day. For toll-free numbers and trunk lines, it can take approximately 3 business days to set up, or less with rush service. Let us know your requirements and we'll make it happen.

What does phone service cost?

Local phone numbers come with unlimited free incoming calls (limited only to the channels you have) - you only pay a monthly fee. Toll-free 800 numbers have a per-minute charge plus a monthly fee.

How does the Flash player work?

The Flash player is the best way to deliver your recorded audio. Your site visitors click the player to listen to streamed audio without leaving your page, or without custom installations. Recordings are securely stored on our servers, which frees up your network resources for other tasks.

Can I customize the Flash player?

Yes. You can customize your Flash player with your colors, brand and unique style. The in-browser mic is customizable too! See Professional Services for more information.

What is EvocaMic™?

EvocaMic™ is our in-browser recorder technology that lets your users record their voice messages directly through their browser using their computer microphone. Visitors don't have to save or upload anything. They simply click on the "Record" button, and we take care of the rest. The recording will be saved on our servers, which you can listen to and approve. Our recorder is Flash-based, so 99% of all Internet users will be ready to record right away.

Can I customize the in-browser recorder?

Yes. We can customize your in-browser recorder with your colors, brand and unique style. The Flash player is customizable too! See Professional Services for more information.

What does EvocaMic™ cost?

It is free to record into our in-browser mic, and you only pay for the audio storage plus the bandwidth to stream the recorded voice message during playback.

Can I upload recordings produced off-line?

Yes. Evoca APIs include an upload function.

Can I edit recordings?

Yes. Evoca APIs include a download function. You can download a recording into your editing software, edit it and then re-upload for posting online.

Who owns and controls the recordings?

All recordings belong to the copyright owner and never to Evoca. That owner may be the operator of the web property or a third party known to the web owner. The use of the recordings is completed controlled by you. See (link to EMS User Agreement) and (link to Evoca Privacy Statement).
