Evoca to conquer the Latin market
By Luis F. Canarte

New York - Do you have an important message to tell the world? Do you wish to save your voice for posterity? You dont like to type, but you have much to say? Evoca provides you with these services online starting today with its Spanish site, exclusively for the Hispanic market.

"We Latinos like to talk, and Evoca lets you create voice recordings very easily by using your phone - everyone has one", says Diego Orjuela, co-founder of "Evoca, Empower your voice" along with the US-born Murem Sharpe.

Communication has become globalized in such a way that the latest innovation in technology for communication is Podcasting. A podcast (digital sound files that can be downloaded from a website and carried in an MP3 player) is similar to a radio show, but the difference is that the show can be listened to on an MP3 player, an iPod, cell phone or computer.

According to a report published by Forester Research, Inc. 12.3 million homes in the US will use an MP3 player to listen to podcasts by the end of the decade. Other information provided by the BBC claims that 1 out of every 10 adults in the US, equivalent to 22 million people, have an MP3 player.

"Evoca was born from a combination of ideas in December of 2004, and one year later, the idea was solidified. My friend and fellow co-founder, Murem Sharpe, had lost her father, who was a terrific story teller, and she was saddened by not being able to hear his stories again", explains Orjuela, born in Bogota, Colombia, and who came up with the brilliant idea behind Evoca during his technology and business studies in Spain.

The innovative system allows any internet user to create a digital recording from a computer or cell phone, and distribute it online using HTML codes, tags, and RSS feeds (a new format that informs a user each time a change has been made to a website), interest groups and podcast portals.

The potential of this software, that once connected to the Internet converts your computer into a digital recorder, is amazing.

With Evoca you can create audio files which can later be organized, shared and searched on social networks. In other words, it facilitates the creation of Podcasts and the distribution of any type of content where voice plays a key role. From this, that the first users on Evoca have bet on creating conversation programs, monologues, oral narrations and even unique presentations from music fans.

"We use various technologies such as Macromedia Flash, Skype and other technology standards such as MP3 and RSS. What we did was utilize all these and unite them so it would be easy to create a recording and distribute it utilizing the Podcasting format," expressed Orjuela, who underlined that by simply using a phone, anyone can send a voice message to the world or any online user.

The launch of its English site took place on march 15th, but Orjuela gave EL DIARIO/LA PRENSA the exclusive that starting today, Spanish-speaking users can visit www.evoca.com where they will be provided with 15 free minutes, with a paid version ($29.95 for 1 year) that allows a Skype recording feature.

There are other services that facilitate the transfer of recordings from a mobile phone, charge to listen to recordings, and even transcriptions and translations of certain content.

"We are opening exclusive phone lines for our service in New York, Miami, Chicago and LA for the Hispanic users, the only thing they will need to do is make a call, and record their message. We also offer a professional service with 180 minutes (3 hours) of storage for $29.95 for 1 year," Diego Orjuela added.
