Language interpreters can record business and practice sessions using Evoca’s convenient voice recording service.
Recording a session is as easy as conducting a conference call by phone or Skype, which is especially convenient for international teams. When the recording session is completed, the host can email the recording to the appropriate recipients, keep it private in an Evoca account, or share it online.
These are the typical roles in a spoken word interpretation session:
- Interpreter
- Speaker – Interpreter actively listens to this speaker of the source language
- Listener – Interpreter conveys the speaker’s spoken words into the target language of the Listener
- Optional: an instructor or evaluator can listen in
How to record language interpretation sessions
Step #1: Schedule a conference call recording session.
Step #2: Choose call recording by phone or Skype.
Advantage: Use any phone and a free conference call service
Requires:
- Any phone with 3-way calling capability for the student hosting the call. The other two parties can be on any type of phone line.
- Use of a free or paid conference call service, into which all parties dial at the specified date and time.
Advantage: Skype calls are free and can be managed from the student’s Skype account during the call.
Requires:
- A computer headset with a microphone for all participants. They already student already may have this equipment if experienced with making Skype calls.
- To record using Skype, a Skype account is required for the student who is making the recording. While the other two parties can be reached on a regular phone number using Skype Out, it is less costly to bring each of them into the call recording if they use Skype – a free computer-to-computer call.
