Today the [tag]Savannah College of Art and Design[/tag] presented the annual [tag]Sidewalk Arts Festival[/tag]. This popular event features a chalk drawing competition on the sidewalks of Savannah’s centerpiece, beautiful [tag]Forsyth Park[/tag]. The event also included a student and faculty art exhibition, food, and children’s and youth areas for young artists as well as live music throughout the day.

The Evoca team was on hand to check out the art, make some “on the spot” interviews, and support the local scene.

Today is a good day for not only Evoca but for Ebay as well. Evoca has landed on ebay. A powerseller we came in contact with said this,

“I have been selling products on Ebay for a few years now; sometimes with good results and sometimes with bad. It didn’t really matter what the product was either. Then I kind of found Evoca and something really hit me. Why couldn’t I add voice to my selling profile to give it that little bit of personality. I have most recently sold an electrocardiogram in two days. I tend to think it was because I was able to use Evoca technology to record myself talking about the item. It added a new dimension”.

A child utters his/her first words only once in life. It is a moment that most parents say is never far from their minds. Tonight the Evoca community was given a special treat as we were all able to witness, through audio, a child’s first words. Community member, Tiffany, caputred her daughter Ava’s first word with her cell phone. We hope you enjoy this recording as much as we did!

It’s the multiple layers of great civilizations that make [tag]Peru[/tag] so intriguing. You can wander around colonial cities, visit the ancient Inca capital of [tag]Cuzco[/tag], explore the lost city of Machu Picchu, or broadcast your voice to the world.

Well, so maybe that isn’t the exact wording of the travel brochure. However, today marked a great day for [tag]Evoca[/tag]. In a wonderful article for [tag]El Comercio[/tag], Juan Carlos [tag]Lujan[/tag] outlined the features of Evoca and its potential as the next big thing in [tag]web[/tag] 2.0!

Some great ideas for the present AND the future of [tag]Evoca[/tag] have been flooding the mail room here. Everything ranging from player skins (customizable, of course) to new buttons to free t-shirts have shown up in the form of emails, tickets, and suggestions. So, what have we done about it? Well, we have introduced the ‘community forum‘. You can do so much there including posting suggestions, thoughts, uses for Evoca, etc. So, stop reading now and head on over to the [tag]community[/tag] and let us hear from you. Speak up and speak out!

Evoca has moved into new territory this week as community member e_Mandarin began offering Mandarin Chinese lessons as a podcast. Standard Mandarin functions as the official spoken language of the People’s Republic of China, the official spoken language of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and one of the official spoken languages of Singapore. This truly sets Evoca apart as not only a place for casual recordings but a place of lessons and language as well!

This weekend [tag]Evoca[/tag] took to the street to celebrate the international diversity of its home town; [tag]Savannah[/tag], Georgia. Recording by cell phone and iRiver player, Evoca was able to interview some volunteers, catch a few tunes from other countries, and more or less spread the love to all present. It was a great way to show others how Evoca can be used for [tag]citizen journalism[/tag], on-the-fly recording, and audio snapshots.
